Shettima, Governors Gather for NEC Meeting in Abuja

Vice President Kashim Shettima convenes National Economic Council with key state governors to discuss national economic issues.

Abuja, Nigeria — August 28, 2025

The National Economic Council (NEC), Nigeria’s statutory body comprising the Vice President and state governors, meets regularly to steer economic strategy and development. Its sessions often influence federal and state-level cooperation on fiscal matters.

Vice President Kashim Shettima chaired Thursday’s NEC meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Present were the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazak of Kwara State, and the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State. Governors from Zamfara, Jigawa, Lagos, Anambra, Gombe, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Benue, and Ondo States also attended, along with the Rivers State Sole Administrator.
