Nicki Minaj Backs Donald Trump’s Statement on Christian Killings in Nigeria, Calls for Global Respect for Religious Freedom

Los Angeles, USA – November 1, 2025

American rap icon Onika Tanya Maraj, popularly known as Nicki Minaj, has publicly thrown her weight behind U.S. President Donald Trump’s strong statement on the persecution of Christians in Nigeria, saying the situation calls for global attention and sincere compassion.

Trump, in a widely circulated post on Social media, declared that “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria” and announced Nigeria’s designation as a “Country of Particular Concern” over mass killings of Christians allegedly carried out by radical Islamist groups.

He also urged the U.S. Congress to take immediate action, insisting that America cannot stand by while such atrocities continue.

Reacting to the post, Nicki Minaj expressed heartfelt gratitude for living in a country where freedom of worship is protected, stressing that no one should ever face persecution for their faith.

“Reading this made me feel a deep sense of gratitude. We live in a country where we can freely worship God. No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion. We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other,” she wrote.

Minaj further lamented the growing trend of religious persecution around the world, describing it as a “horror” that too many people choose to ignore.

“Numerous countries all around the world are being affected by this horror & it’s dangerous to pretend we don’t notice,” she added.

The multi-award-winning rapper also commended the U.S. President and his team for taking the matter seriously, offering prayers for victims of persecution.

“Thank you to The President & his team for taking this seriously. God bless every persecuted Christian. Let’s remember to lift them up in prayer,” she concluded.

Nicki’s response has generated widespread discussion online, with many praising her for aligning her voice with global efforts to highlight faith-based persecution, an issue that has long drawn concern from international human rights groups.

Nigeria remains one of the most dangerous countries for Christians, according to multiple reports, with thousands killed or displaced in attacks on churches and communities, particularly in the northern and Middle Belt regions.

Nicki Minaj’s show of solidarity marks a rare moment where global entertainment and political activism intersect, underscoring that the fight against religious persecution transcends politics, race, and geography.
