Iran Claims Surprise Missile Strike Targeted Netanyahu’s Office

IRGC says attack also aimed at Israeli Air Force commander’s location as regional tensions sharply escalate.

Tehran / Jerusalem — Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for a recent surprise missile strike that it says targeted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office and the location of the Israeli Air Force command, in what it described as a “tenth wave” of strikes, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing Iran–Israel conflict.

According to Iran’s state-linked media reports, the IRGC launched a coordinated ballistic missile assault described as part of a broader operation against Israeli leadership facilities.

Iranian sources say the attack was carried out as a “targeted and surprise attack” and specifically directed at key Israeli leadership and military command structures.

Iran’s announcement emphasizes that the missiles were aimed at strategic targets, including what Tehran claims were Netanyahu’s office and a command post associated with the Israeli Air Force.

Reports also noted Iran’s assertion that the strike used Kheibar (Khorramshahr-4) ballistic missiles, capable of challenging Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system.

The Kheibar missile, officially designated as the Khorramshahr-4, is an Iranian liquid-fuel medium-range ballistic missile unveiled in 2023 as the most advanced variant of the Khorramshahr family, with an estimated range of about 2,000 km and a large warhead capacity.

The Israeli government has not formally confirmed that the prime minister or the air force commander was hit or injured in the strike. Although, they have acknowledged defensive operations against Iranian missile barrages over the past days.

This development comes amid a broader regional escalation following a series of U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Iran, which included the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other senior commanders. In response, Iran has repeatedly launched missile and drone attacks toward Israeli territory and U.S. bases in the region.

International reactions to the heightened conflict have included calls for restraint from global powers, while the Middle East remains on high alert as tensions continue to rise.
