“For the Love of God, Do Something So Christian Children Don’t Have to Die” – NGO Urges U.S. Government to Intervene
The Nigerian government is arresting innocent people for trying to prepare for these attacks and raise awareness about these attacks on the ground.
Abuja, Nigeria – December 17, 2025
Equipping the Persecuted, a U.S.-based NGO focused on stopping the persecution of Christians in Nigeria, has issued an urgent appeal to the United States government to intervene, warning that Nigerian authorities are complicit and have failed to act on credible intelligence pointing to planned Christmas attacks against Christian communities.
In a public statement delivered by Judd Saul of equippingthepersecuted.org and truthnigeria.com, the organization said intelligence gathered on the ground indicates that armed Fulani Terrorists are continuing to mass along key flashpoints in Nigeria’s Middle Belt, including the Plateau-Nassarawa, Benue-Nassarawa, and Kaduna-Nassarawa borders.
“To my knowledge, nothing has changed,” Saul said. “The killers are still massing. They’re still gathering. The Fulani are not standing down. The Nigerian government is in complete denial over the situation, despite ongoing notifications from the ground that movement is still happening.”
The NGO said it deliberately made its intelligence public to establish accountability, warning that any further killings during the Christmas period would occur “on Nigeria’s government’s watch, with notification.”
Equipping the Persecuted accused Nigerian authorities not only of failing to confront the heavily armed Fulani terrorists, but of actively targeting Christian youth and community leaders who have been raising alarms and attempting to prepare their communities for imminent attacks.
“We’ve been getting word that instead of cracking down on the terrorists, the Nigerian government is arresting Christian youth, people whose only ‘crime’ is warning their communities and trying to prepare for attacks,” Saul said.
He questioned why security forces have not moved against armed groups allegedly operating openly with military-grade weapons.
“Why don’t you arrest the Fulani running around the Middle Belt with AK-47s and rocket-propelled grenades?” he asked. “Why aren’t you going after the people who are actually breaking your laws and putting them in prison?
He questioned the Nigerian government’s rational for “targeting and arresting Christians who are simply trying to survive.”
The statement also detailed a wave of recent killings that, according to the NGO, has received little attention but underscores the urgency of the situation.
In the past three days alone, seven Christians were killed two counties in Plateau State in separate attacks on December 12 and 13, including four children and a pastor, as Christmas approaches.
The victims, Equipping the Persecuted said, were previously displaced families already living outside their ancestral homes, in camps, after earlier violence.
Among the dead were four children, Precious Joshua, 17; Isaac Joshua, 9; Mary Joshua, 7; and Eve Sambo, 3, who were reportedly shot while having dinner in an open compound.
The same night, a pastor was killed in Karfa Village in Bokkos County, his wife was kidnapped, and another woman was killed nearby.
The following day, a Christian farmer was ambushed and killed while returning home from his farm in the same area.
“These people were already displaced. Their farmlands were already destroyed,” Saul said. “So what is this about? This is not climate change. Four Christian children were murdered while eating dinner. A pastor was killed in his home. What does that have to do with climate change?”
The NGO pointed to Bokkos and surrounding areas as long-standing hotspots of repeated attacks over several years, accusing the government of abandoning communities that have been assaulted “over and over and over again.”
“Nigerian government, where are you? This is the Bokkos area where Christians have been attacked repeatedly for the last three years. Why aren’t you there doing something about it?”
Despite the unhinged killings, Equipping the Persecuted warned that intelligence still indicates further attacks are being planned as Christmas approaches.
“Christians are still being killed every day, unimpeded,” Saul said. “The Fulani are still planning to kill on Christmas. Nothing has changed.”
The organization concluded with a direct appeal to both Abuja and especially to Washington, urging immediate action to prevent further bloodshed.
