BREAKING! IPOB Raises Alarm Over Targeted Crackdown on Members

A senior figure within the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has issued an urgent security warning to members across the South-East, urging principal officers to immediately change their locations and remain on high alert following reports of attacks, kidnaps and disappearances over the weekend.

In a statement received by Peoples Chronicles, IPOB leader Mazi Chinasa Nworu warned that confidential meeting venues may have been leaked to Nigeria’s security agencies for violent crackdown on the peaceful group, describing the development as a serious internal security breach by enemies within the movement.

According to the warning, several IPOB principal officers were abducted during the weekend, while others were shot and taken to undisclosed locations.

Nworu confirmed that the information leading to the operations may have come from infiltrators within the organization who passed sensitive details to Nigeria’s domestic intelligence agency, the Department of State Services (DSS).

The development, he said, represents what IPOB leadership believes to be a coordinated effort aimed at weakening the group’s command structure and disrupting its activities across Biafraland.

In response to the reported security threats by the regime, the IPOB leadership has advised members to temporarily suspend physical gatherings and meetings until further directives are issued.

Nworu revealed that the operations form part of a broader covert strategy by the Nigerian government and security services to undermine the movement by targeting key officers and media personnel.

The warning calls on members to remain vigilant and to await additional guidance from IPOB’s Directorate of State (DOS) as the organization reassesses its security arrangements.

The Indigenous People of Biafra has consistently maintained that its campaign is rooted in non-violence and the democratic demand for a United Nations-supervised referendum that would allow people in Eastern region (Biafra) to decide their political future peacefully.

Supporters argue that instead of engaging that demand through dialogue or democratic mechanisms, the Nigerian state has repeatedly responded with force through security crackdowns carried out by agencies such as the Department of State Services and the military.

Critics say this heavy-handed approach stands in sharp contrast to the government’s perceived failure to deploy the same level of force against Fulani terrorist groups responsible for widespread killing of Christians across Nigeria.

The government has also faced controversy over its support to Fulani terrorists including ₦100 billion in payments to Miyetti Allah, the umbrella body of Fulani Herders, one of the most brutal terrorists organisations in the world, fueling public debate about national security priorities.

The abductions, killings and disappearances of supporters of the Indigenous People of Biafra are described by critics as increasingly normalized in Nigeria’s security landscape. Prominent among the cases cited is the continued unlawful detention of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, despite several legal rulings calling his detention into question. These include decisions by courts within Nigeria, a ruling from a court in Kenya regarding the circumstances of his arrest, and findings by the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, which demanded his immediate release.

Kanu was kidnapped in Kenya in June 2021 and forcefully brought into Nigeria after 8 days of intense torture. Since then, he has faced prolonged solitary confinement, restricted access to medical care, and at times deprived contact with family members and legal counsel, conditions they argue amount to serious violations of his fundamental rights.

Kanu is but one amongst thousands of Biafrans suffering at the hands of the Nigerian government.

Attention!
Attention!!

Warning / Security breach!

If you’re an IPOB principal officer in Biafraland, kindly change your location, be on high alert, and watch your back.

The internal enemies among us have started giving out your meeting venues to the Nigerian DSS, and as I speak to you now, some IPOB principal officers were abducted this weekend; some were shot, and they are being taken to an unknown location for now.

Therefore, I advise that IPOB gatherings or meetings in Biafraland should halt for the time being, with adjustments to arrangements and locations, and await additional guidance from the IPOB leadership.

As I have always informed you all , what is happening now is the work of the Nigerian government plans being planned and orchestrated by the DSS . All these attacks against IPOB leadership and the media personnel are a covert operation agreed and contracted with the infiltrators to destroy the struggle, knowing quite well that if the DOS can be destroyed , it will lead to the collapse of the Biafra struggle.
