BREAKING: Fulani Terrorists Kill At Least10 Vigilantes, Abduct Five in Kwara Community
KWARA, NIGERIA – SEPTEMBER 27, 2025
In a devastating attack on Sunday morning, September 28, 2025, Fulani terrorists stormed the agrarian town of Oke-Ode in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, resulting in the deaths of at least 10 members of local vigilante groups, including forest guards. Five others were abducted during the assault.
Residents reported that the terrorists arrived in large numbers in the early hours, engaging the vigilantes in a fierce confrontation. The attackers targeted the vigilantes at their duty posts, leading to casualties among the defenders.
The bodies of the slain vigilantes were taken to the police station, while the injured were rushed to the General Hospital in Share.
A member of the local vigilante group, identified as Ajetunmobi, criticized the government’s response, stating that intelligence about the planned Fulani terrorist attack had been circulating for days, yet security forces were withdrawn instead of reinforced, leaving the community vulnerable. He questioned why security forces were withdrawn despite prior warnings.
The statement clearly suggests that the government not only failed to act on available intelligence, rather through their action and inaction encouraged the attack raising questions about its commitment to protecting rural communities from recurring violent attacks from Fulani terrorists.
This attack highlights the escalating insecurity in rural communities across Kwara State. Residents and local leaders continue to call for government intervention and support to protect vulnerable communities from such violent assaults beyond rhetoric.
