ALARM RAISED: Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor Warns of Imminent Threat to His Life, Alleges Plot to Invade His Home in Anambra

Anambra, Nigeria – December 26, 2025

Prominent human rights lawyer and constitutional advocate, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has raised a grave alarm over “a clear, imminent, and grave threat to my life and the safety of my family,” accusing named individuals of orchestrating intimidation, security manipulation, and a sinister plot to leave his household exposed during the Christmas season.

In a strongly worded statement issued on December 25, 2025, and followed by a more detailed account on December 26, 2025, Ejiofor said he was compelled to speak publicly after becoming aware of calculated threats and hostile actions allegedly linked to Mr. Vincent Dike, Mr. Ugochukwu Nnajiofor (also known as Man Pass Man), and Mr. Ikenna Ofodeme, the Majority Leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly.

Describing the threats as credible and unfolding, Ejiofor said he felt a solemn duty to place the matter on record for the attention of law-enforcement agencies, civil society, and the international community. While stating that he was neither alarmed nor unsettled, the senior advocate made it clear that he was fully aware of the “intentions, designs, and machinations” currently in motion.

He condemned what he described as the attempt to exploit the Christmas and New Year period as cover for intimidation and lawlessness, warning that any harm to him or his family would not be dismissed as coincidence but treated as a deliberate act with grave legal and moral consequences.

Ejiofor explicitly named the three individuals, stating that should any harm come to him or his household, they should be held jointly and severally responsible, adding that relevant security authorities had already been formally notified.

In his follow-up statement issued on December 26, Ejiofor provided a detailed chronology of events. He disclosed that he is currently at his ancestral home in Oraifite, Anambra State, with his family for the festive season.

Given prevailing security challenges and persistent threats to his life, he said he lawfully requested security coverage from the Anambra State Vigilante Group (AVG), popularly known as Udo ga Achi.

According to him, bona fide AVG operatives were duly deployed to his residence in an official operational vehicle, armed in line with their mandate and bearing proper identification. He stressed that the deployment was lawful, transparent, and procedural, noting that he does not ordinarily move with security escorts except when compellingly necessary.

However, Ejiofor explained that the presence of legitimate security frustrated a planned attack on his home, triggering agitation among the same individuals he had earlier named.

Within 48 hours, he said, the AVG Commander who deployed the operatives began receiving calls from Mr. Ikenna Ofodeme, after which Mr. Vincent Dike and Mr. Ugochukwu Nnajiofor were added to the conversation.

During the call, Ejiofor stated that the Commander was aggressively questioned and forced to immediately withdraw the AVG personnel, with threats that Nnajiofor’s group would invade Ejiofor’s home and forcibly disarm them if the order was not obeyed.

Appeals to allow the security detail remain until after the festive period were reportedly rejected, with insistence that an unnamed “Oga” in Oraifite had ordered their withdrawal.

To avoid a confrontation between the AVG personnel and their superiors, Ejiofor said he reluctantly advised that the operatives be withdrawn, leaving his household more exposed than before.

The situation, Ejiofor said, took a more disturbing turn later that night. He alleged that Mr. Ikenna Ofodeme attempted to mobilise the police to raid his residence by falsely claiming that the AVG operatives earlier deployed were impostors armed with AK-47 rifles and terrorising the neighbourhood.

Ejiofor said the Anambra State Police Command, under the current Commissioner of Police, acted professionally and conducted a fact-finding visit. Officers reportedly found his residence peaceful and confirmed that the AVG personnel had already been withdrawn.

He alleged that the police were shocked to learn that those pushing for a raid were fully aware that the operatives were genuine, had personally communicated with the AVG Commander, and knew the personnel had been withdrawn, yet deliberately concealed these facts while urging police action.

Ejiofor warned that the pressure to remove security from his home is driven by an unmistakably sinister motive. He further alleged that there is a premeditated plan to later portray any attack on his household as the work of “unknown gunmen” or hoodlums.

He reiterated that his home is now more vulnerable than ever, and once again named Ikenna Ofodeme, Vincent Dike, and Ugochukwu Nnajiofor as those who should be held responsible if any harm occurs. Ejiofor disclosed that he has also formally identified the unnamed principal behind the alleged plot to security authorities.

The lawyer thanked Nigerians and people of goodwill for their concern and prayers, expressing confidence in the supremacy of due process, the sanctity of human life, and the rule of law, while calling for vigilance during the festive period.

The allegations, grave in nature, have already drawn widespread attention, raising urgent questions about security, political power, and the safety of outspoken legal practitioners in Nigeria.

This is not the first time Ejiofor has raised alarm over alleged plots against his life, making it deeply disturbing that, despite repeated warnings in the past, no thorough investigation was reportedly carried out by security agencies, nor were decisive actions taken by the police.

This pattern calls into serious question the responsibility of law-enforcement institutions to serve and protect through prompt, impartial, and credible investigations.

It should not be normalised in any society that a respected citizen repeatedly alerts security authorities about threats of assassination without any meaningful response or accountability.
