Decomposed Body of Labourer Found in Car Outside National Assembly, Abuja
Abuja, September 8, 2025 — A grim discovery was made Sunday morning when the remains of 55-year-old Gaddafi Iwar, allegedly employed as a labourer on a construction site within the National Assembly complex, were found inside a car parked at the annex gate of the complex.
The car, reportedly a red Peugeot 406 with the registration number BWR-577 BF, was located around 9:00 a.m. on September 7.
The body was initially taken to the National Assembly Clinic for confirmation before being transferred to Asokoro General Hospital, which declined to accept it due to its advanced state of decomposition.
Following that, Tiv community leaders conveyed the body to Gbawu Village—located between Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and Kuje Area Council—where it was buried to mitigate health risks.
At present, authorities have not released any official statement on the circumstances of Iwar’s death. An investigation into the incident is expected to clarify those details in the coming days.
