Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo Confirms Ongoing Jihad, Says Killings in Nigeria Are Genocide Against Christians

“I found a knife stuck in my grandmother’s chest, and my uncle’s tongue was cut off,” he said.

Plateau, Nigeria – November 12, 2025

Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo, the Provincial Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), Ropp, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, has revealed that a coordinated Jihad has been ongoing in Nigeria for over three decades, describing the killings of Christians across the country as a “clear genocide.”

Speaking during an interview on News Central TV, Reverend Dachomo said that even though the killing of Christians has been happening for more than 30 years, “the official launching of Jihad” began in 2001.

“Jihad is going on in Nigeria, and the idea is to destabilize and turn Nigeria into an Islamic state like Turkey and Afghanistan,” he said.

According to the cleric, in some communities in Northern Nigeria, terrorists prevent local farmers from cultivating their lands unless they pay levies. He added that the attackers also compel villagers to work for them and deny them access to their harvest if they did not cultivate for them first.

Reverend Dachomo recalled that Nigerians have endured terrorism for a long time, citing the March 7, 2010 Dogo Na Hauwa massacre in which at least 501 people were reportedly killed by Fulani herders. He described the attack as part of the Jihadist campaign and said the name “Dogo Na Hauwa” was imposed on the Christian community.

He narrated the testimony of a female survivor who told him how she watched a Fulani attacker lick blood off his knife after beheading a Christian man. “She was watching him while shivering and covering her child’s mouth,” he said.

Addressing claims that some Muslims were also victims of similar attacks, Reverend Dachomo explained that such killings were carried out by extremists who considered the victims “not Muslim enough.”

He said that on rare occasions, a few terrorists are killed when villagers attempt to defend themselves. However, PEOPLES CHRONICLES noted that the Nigerian Army prevents communities from protecting their lives by going house to house and confiscating any items that could be used for self-defense, including dane guns.

He cited incidents in Madagali and Gwoza where gunmen attacked Christian villages on Sunday mornings.

“They separate the men from the women, slaughter the men, rape and abduct the women, leaving the children at the mercy of the dead,” he said.

Reverend Dachomo said not all attacks occur in churches. According to him, “some Christians are killed on their farms, on their way home from the market, or inside the market where gunmen open fire while shouting ‘Allahu Akbar.’”

The cleric described the trauma of survivors, including women and children who fled into forests to escape the violence. Recounting personal loss, he said the same crisis claimed the lives of his grandmother, uncle, and several others.

“I found a knife stuck in my grandmother’s chest, and my uncle’s tongue was cut off,” he said.

He also narrated how a woman was locked inside her house with her children and burnt alive after Fulani terrorists set the building on fire. “She was burnt alive carrying her children on her back,” he added.

On the government’s response to the persistent killings, Reverend Dachomo accused authorities of inaction. He said, “They often visit affected communities, including the current Chief of Defence, but take no real action afterward.”

He mentioned the case of former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Dr. Betta Edu, who was allegedly dismissed after bringing relief materials to victims of Fulani attacks.

Reverend Dachomo also recalled that former Plateau State Governor Joshua Chibi Dariye was removed from office after some terrorists who attacked a Christian community were killed in self-defense. The highly armed terrorists retrieved the corpses of their members and had taken them to the government house by a senior member of Miyetti Allah.

The cleric further confirmed that there are “forces from the Islamic world trying to cover up the ongoing Christian genocide in Nigeria.” He accused Islamic clerics of failing to condemn the killings, citing the statement of Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, one of the leaders of the Izala Society, who had warned the government against arresting Fulani terrorists without facing any backlash.

Reverend Dachomo also pointed to the 2022 Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket as evidence of the climax of the Islamization agenda, adding that the position of Special Adviser to the President on Security “has become a role reserved only for Muslims.”

His comments come following after U.S. President Donald Trump warned that “if Nigeria does not act fast, there will be a military intervention,” a move welcomed by Nigerians who see it as the only solution.

However, the Nigerian government has rejected the notion that Christians are being specifically targeted, insisting that the insecurity affects people of all faiths, despite contrary evidence.

Many Nigerians continue to express frustration, accusing the authorities of ignoring the widespread killings and failing to bring those responsible to justice, and encouraging Fulani terrorists.
