Boko Haram Launches Coordinated Assault on Nigerian Troops in Borno State

Borno, Nigeria – October 11, 2025

Boko Haram terrorists executed a sophisticated attack on Nigerian Army troops stationed in Ngamdu, Borno State. The assault targeted units of Operation HADIN KAI under the 29 Task Force Brigade, responsible for counterinsurgency operations in the northeastern region.

The terrorists employed a combination of advanced weaponry, including Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs), command-detonated Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and armed drones. These tactics led to the destruction of several gun trucks and resulted in the deaths of at least four soldiers, and at least five soldiers sustained injuries during the confrontation.

According to Uba Sani, an army lieutenant-colonel and spokesperson for the operation, the terrorists faced heavy losses, with around 14 bodies reported buried near Bula Wura, in the vicinity of Wasaram within the local government area.

The incident has elicited strong reactions from the public, with many expressing concerns over the increasing sophistication of Boko Haram’s tactics and the challenges faced by Nigerian security forces.

Critics have pointed out the disparity in technological capabilities between the terrorists and the military, highlighting the need to question what the allocation for procurement of weapons for the military is used for.

This attack underscores the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria’s northeastern states, where Boko Haram and its splinter group, Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), continue to pose significant threats.

The terrorists have increasingly adopted advanced warfare strategies, including the use of armed drones and roadside explosives, to target military and civilian sites. Despite efforts by the Nigerian military to counter these threats, the insurgents’ evolving tactics present ongoing challenges to regional stability.
