Emir of Tsaragi Orders Arrest of Youth Leader After Protest Over Killings, Banditry
Kwara, Nigeria – September 30, 2025
The Emir of Tsaragi in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, Alhaji Aliyu Abdullahi Kpotwa Goshi II, has ordered the arrest of Musa Saidu Tsaragi, leader of the Take-It-Back Movement (TIB), after a peaceful protest by local youths against rising kidnappings and killings by Fulani terrorists in the community.
According to a report by Sahara Reporters, Saidu, who coordinated the demonstration, said the monarch became unsettled when protesters stormed the palace gates on Sunday, chanting solidarity songs and demanding that Fulani settlers vacate Tsaragi land.
The youths also called on the Emir to present their grievances to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, whom they accused of abandoning Kwara North to insecurity.
According to Saidu, he was summoned to the Emir’s palace on Monday by palace aides, where he was harassed and accused of instigating the protest.
He alleged that the Emir convened a meeting with the local Divisional Police Officer (DPO), the Imam of Limangkoto, and the AEDC head, during which he directed security operatives to arrest him.
The protest followed the abduction of a local businessman, Suleiman Ndana, by the terrorists, during a midnight raid on Tsaragi. Residents said Ndana contacted security operatives before the attackers stormed his home, but no help arrived. He was seized after surrendering himself to protect his pregnant wife, whom the gunmen had tried to abduct.
The kidnapping threw the community into panic, intensifying demands for urgent government action to restore peace. Protesters accused both traditional and state authorities of failing to protect citizens, noting that Fulani terrorists have operated with impunity in recent months.
The incident has deepened tensions in Kwara North, where communities are increasingly voicing frustration at worsening insecurity and the perceived complicity or indifference of those in power.
