FBI Offers $10,000 Reward for Nigerian Fraud Suspect on the Run for Over Two Decades

Washington, U.S.A. (September 26, 2025)

The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has announced a cash reward of $10,000 (about ₦14 million) for credible information leading to the arrest and conviction of Olumide Adebiyi Adediran, a Nigerian national wanted for a string of financial crimes dating back more than 20 years.

According to an FBI notice, Adediran, who is also known to use several aliases, including Kevin Olumide Adediran, Eric O. Williams, Maxo Alexandre, Olumide Adkins, and Edward N. Anderson, was indicted for a series of bank fraud and identity theft offences committed in Illinois in 2001.

Investigators allege that he deposited fraudulent checks and attempted illegal withdrawals in a scheme that spanned multiple banks and left financial institutions at risk of significant loss.

Court documents reveal that Adediran fled the Central District of Illinois in December 2001, just before his scheduled trial. A federal arrest warrant was subsequently issued on January 2, 2002, charging him with violating the conditions of his release. Despite extensive efforts, authorities have been unable to track him down, and he is believed to have possible ties to South Florida and other undisclosed locations.

The FBI is urging anyone with knowledge of Adediran’s whereabouts to contact the nearest FBI office, any U.S. Embassy or Consulate, or to submit an anonymous tip through the bureau’s online portal. “This fugitive has evaded justice for more than two decades. We are counting on public assistance to bring him in,” an FBI spokesperson said in a statement.

Adediran’s case highlights the persistent challenges of apprehending suspects who cross international borders and adopt multiple identities. The FBI emphasized that all tips will be treated with confidentiality and that the $10,000 reward will be paid for information that directly results in his arrest and successful prosecution.
